I haven’t seen this prayer for years until I came across it a few weeks ago, and I had to share it! That fourth stanza is something else isn’t it? May you all be blessed to do what others say couldn’t be done!
Four-fold Franciscan Blessing
May God bless you with a restless discomfort about easy answers, half-truths and superficial relationships, so that you may seek truth boldly and love deep within your heart.
May God bless you with holy anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people, so that you may tirelessly work for justice, freedom, and peace among all people.
May God bless you with the gift of tears to shed with those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, or the loss of all that they cherish, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and transform their pain into joy.
May God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you really CAN make a difference in this world, so that you are able, with God’s grace, to do what others claim cannot be done.
And the blessing of God the Supreme Majesty and our Creator,
Jesus Christ the Incarnate Word who is our brother and Saviour,
and the Holy Spirit, our Advocate and Guide,
be with you and remain with you, this day and forevermore.
We, as a family had a great time ringing in the New Year at the Klamath Tribes New Years Eve Pow Wow in Klamath Falls, Oregon! I wish to share a blessing with you all to kick off the New Year …
Declaring God’s Blessing For 2010
I choose to initiate God’s promises and blessings for my life in 2010 by declaring them as true. He is the “God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were” (Romans 4:17, NIV). The power in a blessing is in speaking it! Because I believe that God has more wonderful things planned for me than I can even imagine (Ephesians 3:20) for the coming year, today I declare that:
I am blessed with God’s divine purpose and perfect plan for my life. I am blessed with gifts, God-given abilities and guidance. I am blessed with strength of character, self-determination and self-control. I am blessed with family and friends, faith and freedom. I am blessed with health, happiness, favor and fulfillment. I am blessed with promotion, protection, prosperity and provision. I am blessed with spirit of obedience, supernatural success and a positive outlook on life. I am blessed with a fresh start and a new outlook on life, beginning today.
I am looking forward to the new thing God will do in my life this year. I choose to let go of the past and get excited about my future because I am blessed!
In Jesus’ name, Amen (Joel Osteen)
I love Thanksgiving! Over the years, I’ve watched other holidays become commercialized and thought there wasn’t anything anyone could do to ruin Thanksgiving. It was commercialization-proof. It may take money to travel to Grandma’s house and to buy the feast’s fixings, but Thanksgiving is exactly that, a day to give thanks. The original true story of Thanksgiving began with many believing in God or higher power and Pilgrims believing in the Bible. And, today people choose whether to make that a part of their story.
Allow me to share this prayer on Thanksgiving …
We return thanks to our mother, the earth, which sustains us.
We return thanks to the rivers and streams, which supply us with water.
We return thanks to all herbs, which furnish medicines for the cure of our diseases.
We return thanks to the moon and stars, which have given to us their light when the sun was gone.
We return thanks to the sun, that has looked upon the earth with a
Lastly, we return thanks to the Great Spirit, in Whom is embodied all goodness, and Who directs all things for the good of Her children.
Iroquois Prayer, adapted
Have a blessed Thanksgiving everyone!
It has been decades for me attending an event like this but last weekend Melissa, the kids and I were able to join in the festivities at the Shrewsbury Renaissance Faire in Kings Valley, Oregon. The weather was warm and beautiful and it made for a fun family outing!
The feature of the afternoon was a medieval show with knights jousting and fighting, which was completely engrossing for our kids and pretty entertaining for us, too. Of course, I brought the camera …
